Recently I have been taking a class about social media and educators. This class has offered some great reflective moments. Social media can offer many benefits to educators on a peer to peer level and also for in the classroom. The web is filled with great ideas waiting to be shared and explored and social media allows collaboration without the restraints of time or space. The classroom can become more connected and students open up and share in new ways they would not have naturally.
However social media can also lead to unwanted connections, bad advice, and cyber bullying. Like all undertakings, best professional judgment is advised. These various social media accounts have allowed me to become a more connected educator and I will keep these connections. The connections I have made have improved my teaching and shown me new ideas that I can incorporate. If you have not already explored the more professional sides of social media, I highly encourage you to do so! Sneak out, Kyle
